Itinerary

Kathmandu

 Gele Trekking ensures a smooth start to your adventure. We’ll pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel—simply share your flight details if required. Check-in will be at the hotel lobby, either individually or as a group. Updates will be posted on a notice board, and at 5 PM, you’ll meet your group leader for a pre-trek briefing covering trip details and preparations. An optional group dinner will also be organized for the evening.

Day 1
Phakding

We’ll begin with an early morning scenic flight to Lukla, where we’ll follow in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay through the Dudh Kosi Valley to Phakding.

      A: Flight for 25 to 30 minutes and trek for 3 to 4 hours

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

      C: Elevation 2,600 metres (6,102 ft)

      D: Ascent 1,350 metres (3,280 ft)

      E: Distance covered flight 143 km (88.7 miles and trek 6.4 km (4 miles)

Day 2
Namche

Day walk along the Dudh Koshi river, traversing suspension bridges amidst towering crops while enjoying magnificent mountain views. En route to Namche, the Sherpa capital, we'll catch some glimpses of Mt. Sagarmatha.

      A: Trek for 7 to 8 hours

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

      C: Elevation 3,440 metres (10,958 ft)

      D: Ascent 860 metres (2,821 ft)

      E: Distance covered 13.5 km ( 8.3 miles)

Day 3
Namche

A day hike to the Mt. Sagarmatha viewpoint, offering stunning vistas of Mount Ama Dablam and numerous other peaks. Following this, we’ll proceed with an acclimatisation day and remain in Namche.

      A: Acclimatisation 3 to 4 hours

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

      C: Elevation 3,900 metres (12,795 ft)

      D: Ascent 460 metres (1,509 ft)

      E: Distance covered 6.4 km (4 miles) 

Day 4
Thyangboche

The day hike provides breathtaking views of the mountains, landscape, and rhododendron forest en-route to the Thyangboche Monastery, nestled in the shadows of the majestic Mt. Sagarmatha and Mt. Ama Dablam. The trip encompasses the spiritual essence of Buddhism.

      A: Trek for 6 to 7 hours

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

      C: Elevation 3,867 metres (12,867 ft)

      D: Ascent 427 metres (1,400 ft)

      E: Distance covered 11.5 km (7 miles)

Day 5
Explore Dingboche

Trek through the highest Sherpa settlement in the Sagarmatha region, near the stunning Mt. Ama Dablam and continue to Dingboche.

      A: Trek for 6 to 7 hours

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

      C: Elevation 4,400 metres (14,435 ft)

      D: Ascent 533 metres (1,748 ft)

      E: Distance covered 12.8 km (8 miles)

Day 6
Dingboche

A steep acclimatisation hike to Nagarjun Hill, offering fantastic views of Mt. Ama Dablam and Mt. Makalu, the 4th highest mountain in the world. After reaching the summit, we will return to Dingboche.

      A: Trek for 4 to 6 hours

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

Day 7
Chhukung

Day hike to Chhukung, trekking alongside Yaks’ pastures with views of Ama Dablam on the right as well as Island Peak’s summit, surrounded by other snow-capped mountains. After lunch, a hike to Chhukung-Ri for acclimatisation and stunning views of Mt. Nuptse and Mt. Lhotse.

      A: Trek for 2 to 3 hours and 3 to 4 hours hiking

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

      C: Elevation overnight 4,810 metres (15,780 ft) Chukung-Ri 5,100 metres (16,732 ft)

      D: Ascent 410 metres (1,345 ft)

      E: Distance covered 9 km (6 miles)

Day 8
Island Base Camp

Traverse through Imza Valley to reach where lunch is served at tent camp. Significant preparations are undertaken for the upcoming challenging climb, marking a pivotal milestone in our journey, with expert training provided on equipment use and safety protocols. The remainder of the day is devoted to rest, preparing for an early bedtime in anticipation of a midnight wake-up call.

      A: Trek for 4 hours

      B: Included a meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight tent camp

      C: Elevation overnight 5,180 metres (16,994 ft)

      D: Ascent 370 metres (1,213 ft)

      E: Distance covered 6.4 km (4 miles)

Day 9
Chhukung

The ascent begins after midnight, typically between 12:30 am and 1:00 am, with climbers carrying all the necessary equipment. Participants must maintain a steady pace using their headlamps, while the leader guides on-the-route actions, emphasising the importance of effective time management for a successful summit attempt. After a triumphant summit, we'll return to camp for a nourishing soup and light lunch before packing up and beginning the descent to Chhukung.

      A: Trek for 10 to 12 hours

      B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

      C: Elevation overnight 4,810 metres (15,780ft) Summit 6,189 metres (20,305ft)

      D: Descent 1,378 metres (4,525ft)

      E: Distance covered 17.7 km (11 miles)

Day 10
Namche

We will descend back to Namche where we stayed before passing through  Thyangboche Monastery. Considering altitude-related factors, individuals are permitted to partake in the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

   A: Trek 8 to 9 hours

   B: Includes teahouse room and breakfast

   C: Elevation 3,340 metres (10,985 ft)

   D: Descent 1,370 metres (4,520 ft)

   E: Distance covered 25.7 km (16 miles)

Day 11
In Phakding

Our day begins with a walk downhill, passing the Dudh Koshi River and crossing many suspension bridges. At midday, the leader will select a suitable place for a quick lunch.

      A: Trek for 5 to 6 hours

      B: Included a meal, breakfast and room

      C: Elevation 2,600 metres (10,958 ft)

      D: Descent 860 metres (2,821 ft)

      E: Distance covered 13.5 km (8.3 miles)

Day 12
Lukla

Returning to our initial point and concluding the journey with a celebratory dinner; the leader will gather tips and distribute them to the team as a token of appreciation and gratitude.

Day 13
Kathmandu

Morning flight to Kathmandu, free time in the afternoon, and last evening group dinner with time set out by your leader.

While your group leader will carry emergency communication tools, having personal contact information is always helpful. Inform your bank about your travel plans to ensure ATM functionality in Nepal. If you have pre-existing health conditions, consult your doctor beforehand and share relevant details with your guide for added precautions. Be ready for unpredictable weather and remain flexible, as conditions in remote areas may lead to changes or delays. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. Supporting local communities is integral to trekking with Gele Trekking. By purchasing locally made goods and showing respect for the places you visit, you contribute directly to sustaining the local economy while fostering meaningful connections along the journey.

COMMUNICATION AND ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES

At Gele Trekking, we prioritize your comfort and safety, ensuring a seamless trekking experience.All accommodations along the route, including the first and last nights, are pre-booked. While most rooms are twin-sharing, adjustments may be necessary in remote areas and will be handled with care and flexibility.

Toilets and showers may vary in quality, with some offering excellent facilities and others being more basic. Bringing your toiletries and checking the equipment list is highly recommended to stay prepared.

Communication during the trek can be challenging, with limited or no phone reception and internet access in remote areas. Some teahouses may provide Wi-Fi, but it’s often slow,unreliable, and comes at an additional cost. In emergencies, your guide will assist with communication, including access to satellite phones if needed. Our experienced team is dedicated to managing any challenges and ensuring your safety, comfort, and enjoyment every step of the way.

At the moment Gele Trekking holds the booking in the Hotel Holy Himalaya, Bharma Kumari Marga, Thamel Kathmandu Nepal. It is located inside the tourist hub in Thamel.

At Gele Trekking, we proudly introduce our guests to the rich, healthy flavours of the Himalayan region. Our meals feature organic, locally sourced ingredients such as rice, noodles, potatoes, and the renowned Yak cheese. Fresh seasonal vegetables like spinach, cabbage, carrots, and
spring onions add vibrant nutrition to every dish. Though simple, our food is crafted to fuel yourtrek with essential energy and flavour.Beyond traditional dishes, we offer select foreign items, such as cereals, for variety. To keep you warm and energized, enjoy hot drinks like Nepali tea, hot chocolate, or instant coffee.

 

 For cold refreshments, we provide mineral water, soft drinks, and local beverages. Alcohol options include local brews like Everest beer, spirits, and wine in some areas. However, our experienced trip leaders carefully monitor altitude safety, ensuring your health is prioritized. Every bite and sip on your journey reflects the care and hospitality of the Himalayas, offering nourishment and comfort as you explore these grand landscapes.

Prices vary depending on the elevation.

Low-elevation hot drinks are priced at around $5 to $6 per cup in the USA. Cold drinks, such as mineral water and fizzy drinks, cost approximately $4 to $6. A single lunch is about $10, while dinner costs around $15 in the USA.

Hot drinks at higher elevations cost around $7 to $9 per cup in the USA. Cold drinks, such as mineral water and fizzy drinks, cost approximately $5 to $7. A meal, such as lunch, is about $13, while dinner is around $17 in the USA.

Tips guideline

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a meaningful way to express gratitude for the services provided, in line with trekking traditions. It typically occurs on the final night of the trek, often accompanied by a celebration with the team. During this time, the support team shares their joy and emotions. The leader will guide the group in collecting the tips, which are then distributed by one of the group members to the team. The recommended tip for each Sherpa is $ 70 to $ 80, or an amount of your choice, excluding the trip leader. For the trip leader, depending on the group size, the suggested amount is $ 35 to $ 40 per person, or as you see fit.
