Gele changed my life. So much more than just a ‘guide’. Gele helped me connect with the place, the people, the history, the religion, and the unbridled splendor of our surroundings as we trekked together up to Everest Base Camp (EBC). And yes, he did all this while ensuring my safety and comfort. One moment I will never forget was breaking down in tears as we neared our destination when I called my wife to check in. It is impossible to explain the enormity of it all. I quit trying to highlight other moments. There are just too many. It can only really truly be experienced and shared with others who have trekked these special places. Since my trek, Gele has become a good friend and I value our conversations now years later more than ever. He elevated my mind and spirit on our trip in a way that I will never forget. It shapes me every day even now. Further testament to the authenticity of our interaction. If you are lucky enough to be considering a trek to any of the amazing places Gele will take you, you can rest assured you are with the absolute best. I can’t wait to join you!

Manasalu 🗻, Everest 3 High Passes
Gele has led two trips in Nepal that I was on. He is an exceptional guide and companion. The first was the three passes trek, a long trip that includes a week between 15k and 18.5k feet of elevation. He led the trip and was outstanding in all respects — expert knowledge of each step of the trek, great care about acclimatizing and other challenges, great leadership, and a wonderful sense of humor and positive spirit. He was such a great leader and companion that I asked him to lead me on a second trip around manaslu and into the Tsum valley near Tibet. This was a two week plus trek with only Gele and one porter. Again, he did an incredible job in every respect. In addition to his skills as a guide, leader and companion, I saw numerous acts of generosity and kindness on his part. Helping an older homer down a very difficult pass and declining an offer of payment; allowing a you g solo hike to join us for a day and again declining an offer of payment; sharing medical supplies with a mother and her young son; talking to a young girl and boy about the importance of school and education. Gele is not just a great guide, he’s a very special person. To put it simply, I could not recommend him more highly.
Everest Base Camp (EBC) 🏔️
I had lots of headache after 4000m and to lie down after 5000m. Gele saved me with his magic and encouragement and I finally made it to the base camp!
Pikey Peak 🏔️
We had a brilliant time with Gelu, he is the best guide around... Great company, very knowledgeable and the best sense of humour

Everest Base Camp (EBC)🏔️
Gele was the perfect guide for our trek. With his expert knowledge and experience in the remote locations we trekked, we felt safe with Gele at all times. Additionally, when a member of our group became unwell, Gele and his team acted quickly to arrange a medical evacuation so he could receive treatment. Gele has firm relationships with many people throughout the region, and so is able to handle the logistics with ease. Throughout our trek, Gele was the most wonderful company, with a fantastic sense of humour, effortlessly keeping up our energy and morale; he quickly became a dear friend to all of us. He also took the time to explain the subtleties of Nepali history, culture, and language whenever an opportunity arose, making our experience in Nepal far more meaningful and far more enlightening that it otherwise might have been. I would love to work with Gele again should I get a chance to return to the Himalayas.

Manaslu Circuit Trek🏔️
I have walked on 4 Gele trips in the past 10 years. Annapurna Circuit, Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lakes, Langtang and Gosaikund, and Manaslu Circuit. All were special especially because of the leader who always has a cheary face, looks after your safety, as I saw when he helped people with mountain sickness, makes a good cup of chai and can cook mo mo. What other skills does a guide need. Well, he is also good at navigating and I never saw him use a map. Alright I am a bit flippant as I hate filling in these things. Moments to remember. Descending every evening to a bed in a good tea house that Gele had chosen. Chai in the morning when you were woken. Getting up to the top of the La and beginning a lovely descent. All those beautiful mountains, and all those stars up in the heavens when you had to get up in the night for comfort after obeying Gele s instructions to drink lots of water to ward of mountain sickness. On a more serious note he introduced us to different culture, Hindu and Buddhist and the people were as important to me as the mountains. We in the west live in a rushing material society. It is good to be in a slower more contented culture. I would happily go with Gele again because above all I feel safe.
Annapurna Circuit🏔️
I used Gele as my guide for the Annapurna Circuit in October 2014. He provided a fantastic service to me. His advice was always spot on and he took great care in ensuring that I was well looked after. I first met Gele when he was the Lead Guide for a large UK company for a trip to Everest base camp. As a former Royal Marine I was very impressed with the professional way he led a group of strangers. Particularly in regard to their safety. I would strongly reccomend him to anyone visiting Nepal with the intention of trekking.

I had the pleasure of trekking with Gele from Gele Trekking, and I must say it was an excellent choice. His personal approach and willingness to accommodate our needs were truly commendable. Gele’s deep knowledge of the trail, local customs, and culture added an entirely new dimension to the experience. He consistently prioritized safety and comfort, which is crucial for mountain treks. Throughout the journey, he showed great patience and flexibility, tailoring the itinerary to suit our pace and preferences. Moreover, his sense of humor and friendly personality made the trek not only a physical adventure but also a delightful social experience. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional, responsible, and warm-hearted guide. Gelle Trekking is a choice you won’t regret—whether you’re a beginner or an experienced trekker. I’d gladly join him for another adventure in the future.
Inside Kathmandu Valley
I came to Nepal for a scientific conference, together with my friend and colleague from my university Milos. We had three days time, we wanted to make a trek around Kathmandu. We discovered Gele. He is an amazing person! He accompanied us, willingly arranged all things, accommodation, food, interpreted, commented on the surroundings, history, lifestyle. He impressed us with his proficiency and personal story, it's inspiring! I am happy to have spent some wonderful days with Gele, which I will never forget. I recommend it!
